Overview

Eastern Chad has hosted Sudanese refugees since 2003, while refugees and returnees from the Central African Republic (CAR) have been steadily fleeing to the south. Clashes between rival factions in the Central African Republic's (CAR) northern regions caused an additional large influx of refugees into southern Chad in 2017. More recently in 2021, violence between ethnic groups led Cameroonians to flee their homes and resettle in villages scattered along the Logone River in Chad's Chari-Baguirmi province.

Our work

At GTS, we are committed to ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those who need it most in Chad. Since 2018, we have been gathering vital insights from aid recipients, humanitarian staff, local partners, and authorities to inform the humanitarian response plan and bridge any gaps in perception. Our data collection efforts have covered crises in the Central African Republic, Sudan, Lake Chad, and Cameroon.

In addition to gathering perceptions, we are dedicated to empowering local actors and supporting them in implementing accountability mechanisms that proactively address the needs of affected communities. We believe that by working together and constantly seeking feedback, we can create a more effective and efficient humanitarian response in Chad.

Personally, I don’t know where and how to go to complain....I’m afraid of reprisals. I don’t know how to make a complaint. I can’t.
