Consultant (Asia & the Pacific)
Yaseen Ayobi is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership at Deakin University. An Afghan national, he has been living in Australia since 2014. Yaseen’s recent research and evaluation work features the localisation of humanitarian response in Tonga, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. In his work, he has also addressed humanitarian managerial capacity in the Asia Pacific and the militarisation of humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. Yaseen is trained to design and conduct evaluations and research in the humanitarian and international development spheres. Over the last 12 years, Yaseen has managed a range of development programmes and evaluations, including community-based livelihood, agriculture, and development projects in Afghanistan. He has worked with major donors (such as USAID, Australian Aid, and DFID), private sector organisations, international development organisations, and academics. Yaseen has a master’s in evaluation from Melbourne University and a master’s in international development from the University of Canberra.
